As we approach Christmas, it is more important than ever to remember the people who are going hungry on our doorstep. Trussell Trust Foodbanks gave out 1.1 million emergency food supplies last year, and each of those foodbank visits tells a story of a person or family in crisis.
This is why, for the fourth year, we are running our Foodbank Christmas Appeal in Ely. We are asking for donations of festive, long-life treats like Christmas puds, packets of stuffing mix, tins, jams, chutneys and much more, to be dropped into our Market Place branch.
All donations will be collected from our office on Tuesday 13 December and will contribute to providing festive hampers to Ely Foodbank customers over the Christmas period, in addition to the emergency food supply available from the Chapel Street centre throughout the year.
Additionally, we are supporting a second charity close to our hearts, Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust. We would like to deliver presents to children on the wards this Christmas. Please help us make this happen by donating new or pre-loved toys suitable for children from just a few day’s old to 16 years. These can be dropped into our office until Wednesday 21 December.
Pop in during our usual working hours, or on the evening of the Ely Christmas lights switch on, 25 November, where we will be accepting donations for both causes and handing out balloons!
